A new tulip cultivar was christened in the Keukenhof on Thursday, 29 March. Its name is ‘Teletubby’ in honour of the four wildly popular children’s characters in Teletubby Land. Anne Wood, the brain behind the Teletubbies, was on hand especially for this presentation. The theme of the ceremony was entirely in keeping with the ten-year anniversary of the broadcasting of the Teletubbies in the Netherlands. Linden & Barbosa coordinated the press conference and the personal interviews with Anne Wood. The presentation made the national news on such television stations as RTL Boulevard.

The first DVD of “Casino Royale”, the successful James Bond film, was presented on Wednesday, 21 March by Kristien Bruyninckx of Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, to actress Fajah Lourens and James Bond fan Tim Oliehoek (also the director of the Dutch films “Shouf Shouf Habibi” and “Vet Hard”). Linden & Barbosa, in collaboration with Sunseeker, had one of the leading “stars” of the film, the “Sunseeker Manhattan 60”, make a special trip to Amsterdam to add to the excitement of the launch. Poker fan Fajah Lourens christened the brand-new yacht “Grouper”. Afterward, the Lloyd Hotel was the scene for poker workshops enlivened with performances by XYP, Alessandro Safina and Petra Berger. National dailies, lifestyle magazines, radio and TV programmes such as SBS Shownieuws reported on the event.

Linden & Barbosa frequently organise joint promotions. A recent example is the one between Maison de la France and Sanyo. To promote Sanyo’s cameras and the diversity of the French coast, wobblers and leaflets were used in more than 75 retail outlets to advertise the possibility of winning a trip to the French coast by purchasing a Sanyo camera. For its new client, Stichting Autogas Nederland, Linden & Barbosa designed a campaign entitled Bewust Vooruit (going forward with awareness) that consisted of developing a flyer and writing copy for the website. On 4 April at the AutoRAI, Isa Hoes will receive, also on behalf of her husband Antonie Kamerling, the keys to a new LPG-powered Citroën. CO2 emissions are reduced by 15% when cars are powered by LPG instead of petrol. LPG is also the only fuel currently available nationwide that has less of an impact on the environment than other standard fuels. With the presentation of the keys, Stichting Autogas Nederland kicked off its campaign Bewust Vooruit to promote the use of LPG. www.bewustvooruit.nl
