Patrick Vyncke, PlayStation General Manager at Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE), today presented the highly anticipated PlayStation Portable (PSP) amidst great interest from the press. Photographic model Klarissa Patijn presented him with the PSP wearing a unique Judith Osborn T-shirt bearing the words: “Play this sexy thing”. Which, of course, referred to this revolutionary portable with its many entertainment options.

Guest speaker Carl Rohde, academic trend-watcher at the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Utrecht, spoke about the position of the PSP in the mobile-entertainment trend. Then the press were given the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the PSP’s range of options at four different workshops. Users can play full-feature 3D games, listen to music, watch films and view photographs. The PSP will be launched on 1 September 2005 and will be available as a Value Pack priced at € 249.

The event was organised at the largest mobile lounge and event location in Europe, the OceanDiva. This 140-metre-long event ship can accommodate 1,500 people. The ship’s bright-red, minimalist interior was in perfect keeping with the launch of the PlayStation Portable. Linden & Barbosa was responsible for organising the location and coordinating journalists and on site interviews.

In addition to the games press there was also a great deal of interest from newspapers (including de Volkskrant and het Parool), women’s magazines (including Yes and ELLEgirl) and men’s magazines (including FHM and Playboy).
